Shop with a Cop

The Long Beach Police Foundation (LBPF) in partnership with the Long Beach Unified School District Foundation and Long Beach transit is preparing for the 21st Annual “Shop with a Cop” children’s shopping spree in the fall. We hope to make this our most successful one yet.

This event brings awareness and assists economically disadvantaged children from the Long Beach area by providing a positive experience while they purchase school clothing and supplies. Participants spend time in an encouraging setting with local law enforcement personnel.

Children are pre-selected from the Long Beach community through the LBUSD Foundation and invited to be our guests at “Shop with a Cop”. Each child is matched with a Long Beach Police Officer and/or Community Service Officer, or adult shopper volunteer to purchase clothing and supplies for school needs at Target (often the only new clothes these children receive all year). The children enjoy breakfast provided by community donations, and after shopping they receive snacks and school supplies, to put in their new backpack,..paper, pencils and lunch box. An arts and crafts area is staffed by volunteers, community leaders and business sponsors, where after shopping the children can relax and have fun!

Our goal is 100 children…we ask for your support in the form of cash or in-kind donations, which might include, but are not limited to, new clothing, new shoes or school supplies. All gifts are tax-deductible. And checks should be made out to the Long Beach Police Foundation, please see the sponsor sheet.

Should you have any questions, please contact the Long Beach Police Foundation at 562/343-5111. With your support we look forward to making a difference for some children in Long Beach.
